It is with great disappointment that we announce that the Armidale Regional Council has decided not to renew the Armidale Farmers’ Market’s (AFM’s) license to use Curtis Park to hold the market.

The AFM is a not for profit community association which is run by a team of volunteers, representing both stallholders and the general community. Over the years the AFM Committee has worked very hard to ensure that the market remains true to its aims and objectives. It has placed a real emphasis on “quality over quantity”. In doing so, at times, it has had to make some hard decisions. It has not tried to be a general market (Armidale already has the “Markets in the Mall”). Its focus has been on local food, produce and farm products.

Since its commencement in 2009, an enormous amount of time, early mornings, effort and resources has been donated to the Market by the Committee Members (both past and present) and other generous community members. These people did not gain anything for their efforts other than the satisfaction of contributing to a truly wonderful and successful local event. There are too many people to mention by name but you all know who you are.

We are shocked and saddened by Council’s decision but would like to take the opportunity to thank the thousands of locals and stallholders who have supported the AFM.

We will be running the market on the first and third Sunday in October, as usual. From November, we understand that Rotary will run a market in Curtis Park.

The AFM Committee will take the opportunity to consider its ongoing role and activities…….watch this space!

Armidale Farmers' Market is held the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month from 8am-1pm
(last month October)

The Armidale Farmers' Market is a monthly open-air market that offers fresh seasonal produce, meat, cheese, eggs, baked goods, coffee and other food products from growers and producers around the New England and Coffs Coast regions. Please join us on the 3rd Sunday of every month to celebrate our community and the unique offerings of this wonderful region!

Join us and buy fresh, seasonal produce, home made gourmet food, and plants, grab a hot cup of coffee, bite to eat and relax under a shady tree in the park. Held the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month from 8am until 1pm at Curtis Park (corner of Faulkner and Dumaresq Streets, Armidale).

The markets are held at Curtis Park, on the corner of Faulkner and and Dumaresq Streets in Armidale. Parking is available in the Tourist Information Centre Car Park or on Faulkner Street. Need more detailed directions? Click here.
